Supernatural, 4x17, “It’s a Terrible Life”

Episode Title: It’s a Terrible Life
Writer: Sera Gamble
Director: James L. Conway
Originally Aired: 03/26/2009
Grade: A-

I’ll admit that I liked the opening musical sequence, but I still spent the first several minutes of the episode hoping it wasn't a SPN version of that Buffy episode where she thought she was a patient in a mental institution. I’m glad the episode did have a purpose beyond the gimmick. I wonder what would have happened if Dean had chosen to continue with the company, though...

I know this episode was primarily about Dean, but there might be some significance to the fact that Sam didn’t exhibit any signs of the demon blood psychic powers.

And not to sound like a slobbering fangirl, but clean-shaven, suit-clad Jensen Ackles was a sight to behold. He also had the best line of the episode: “You don’t wanna go fighting ghosts without any health insurance!” All in the delivery.

Oh, and the Winchesters became Smith & Wesson, har har.
