Oh gee, another episode about Chuck and Sarah… And WTF to Chuck trying to run off to Mexico with Sarah? It’s like Fedak doesn’t even know the main character of his own show. The Chuck that viewers love wouldn’t run off and leave his friends and family, certainly not without at least saying goodbye. If Chuck really is willing to do that, I need a more detailed breakdown of his motivations, because “Chuck + Sarah 4-ever” isn’t enough for me.

And did Ellie really need to give Chuck a big speech about how “special” Sarah is and how Chuck should stalk her harder? I suppose that in the Chuck-verse, wise big sister Ellie can recognize twu wuv when she sees it, but realistically, I don’t think she’s seen enough of Chuck and Sarah together this season to know much about their relationship. “You never go too far”? Really? That’s just creepy!

As much as I hated the Chuck/Sarah focus, I did love Casey, Awesome, and Morgan working together to help Chuck win her back. I just wish they’d all been working together for a different reason… I also loved Jeff and Lester successfully stalking Shaw and the soda machine spy elevator. That’s the kind of ridiculousness this show excels at.

I feel like an idiot for not making the connection between Sarah’s red test and Shaw’s murdered wife. Then again, it’s kind of an absurd coincidence that Shaw and Sarah ended up working together at all, so I forgive myself.

On a more positive note, I thought Casey confessing to Sarah that he killed the mole was a nice touch, not because it had anything to do with Chuck and Sarah, but because it was a testament to Casey’s affection for both of them. At least he’s rooting for those two crazy kids to work it out, because I stopped caring last season when Chuck discovered that Morgan had taken his only condom.

Other Stuff

-Yes, Morgan, Shaw really is “stiff as a board.” I wonder how Routh felt about that line.

-Speaking of Shaw, almost everything he does regarding Sarah sets my teeth on edge. Even his parting “Take care of her, Chuck” made want to punch him for being such a paternalistic douche.

-Why is Chuck so conveniently stupid in this episode? Buying flowers and candy to win back Sarah? He’s smarter than that. At least Beckman pointed out how ridiculously naïve he was being when she asked him what he thought they were preparing him for, but that was still another moment that made him look like a dummy.

Quotes

Chuck: “This is all moving very, very fast, don’t you think?”

General Beckman: “The NSA has spent three years and countless millions of dollars helping you reach your potential—there’s nothing ‘fast’ about it.”
