Writers: Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, and Barbie Kligman
Grade: A
So Logan knew someone else who wants to get into the tomb? That sounds fun!
Looks like the writers were setting up a future werewolf storyline. Jeremy asks Tyler what his problem is, Tyler says he doesn’t know, camera lingers on the full moon… If Tyler’s dad, the “alpha male douchebag,” is a werewolf, and Tyler is, too (or will be soon), does the Council know? How is this storyline going to impact the front-and-center vampires storyline?
And what is up with the violently protective dudes on this show?! I get that Logan was an out-of-control new vampire who had racked up quite a body count, and thus he had to die, but did Alaric really have to bring up Jenna before he staked Logan? He’s known her for a week! Between, Jeremy, Stefan, and now Alaric, the gender relations on this show can feel a bit dated.
Other Stuff
-I can’t fault the actor, but Jeremy’s been pretty boring and useless since Vicki’s death. I hope they give him something to do soon.
-I liked Matt standing up to Tyler about liking Caroline. It’s nice that he has a backbone in that friendship and doesn’t let Tyler push him around.
-Mystic Falls has vampires, witches, and apparently werewolves, but no Hellmouth? What makes this place such a magnet for the supernatural?
Quotes
Jenna: “The answer is no.”
Logan: “I know you. You’re always one step from a maybe, a tiny nudge to yes.”
Jenna: “You just pointed out that I have no self-control. Clever strategy.” *slams door*
Tyler: “What do you want?
Jeremy: “Hey, just surprised t see you here. Art usually implies culture, and culture implies… well, not you.”
Tyler: “Go to hell.”
Mayor Lockwood: “Do I look like a student?”
