True Blood – Skarsgård and Wood Dating?

I don't normally comment on the personal lives of the actors in the shows I watch, but I need to vent a bit. First of all, there’s no proof that Skarsgård and Wood are dating. They both had handlers with them, they look like they’re walking a few inches apart in every photo I’ve seen, and there was no PDA. I won’t be shocked if there’s a confirmation in the next few days that they’re indeed dating, but right now, it’s unconfirmed gossip and a lot of jealous, vitriolic fangirl spewing.

I’ll admit that I’m not fond of Evan Rachel Wood, and not because of her past dalliances and public fuck-ups (I’m not a prude, she’s young, and I acted like a twat at her age, too), but simply because I found her annoying in the Across the Universe DVD extras. There’s just something fickle and childish and almost callous about her that rubs me the wrong way, and because of that, I shamefully admit that I feel some “Of all the people you possibly date, her?! Really?!” It's not like I keep a list of which celebrities should date each other, because I'm not that crazy and they're not my paper dolls to pair up how I please, but if he were dating, say, Yvonne Strahovski, I'd probably be thrilled!

I don’t despise the girl, and in opposition to the current standard fangirl reaction of, “OMG, he’s just a shallow douche like all the other guys in Hollywood, his public persona is all fake, no taste, total trash, hate him now!,” I actually find it rather admirable that he’s willing to get to know her on her own merits in spite of all the Hollywood trash-talking surrounding her. He certainly knows her better than I do! I still think they’d be an odd match romantically because his maturity trumps hers by leaps and bounds, but who knows, maybe he’d be good for her.

The thing is, a lot of people feel much more strongly about the possibility of them dating than I do. And even for me, the rumors are probably going to ruin any enjoyment I may have felt for the scenes with Eric and Sophie-Anne next week. Whether the actors are friends or lovers, I can’t help but wish they’d waited another weekend to hang out so viewers could watch their scenes in the finale in peace. If this was a PR stunt to bump the finale ratings, they can both kiss my ass, along with HBO. I doubt it is, but embarrassingly, I’m a little resentful of their timing…
